Good Evening Water of Life,

First and foremost, we want to say thank you. Thank you for coming together as a church and responding so well in the midst of crisis and chaos. We hit record setting numbers online, and you all were so encouraging and supportive. Church family, you truly are amazing!

We have been doing everything we can to navigate smoothly through the next few months. We’ve been meeting with county officials and health supervisors. Some changes are being put into place.

Here are the Highlights:

  • NXTGEN and Empowered Kids: We are preparing materials and content for you to stream online so that our kids can keep growing with Jesus.

  • CityLink: We are short on food. If you are able, donate food to CityLink so that we can give it to those in need. Our food trucks will be at our Fontana campus tomorrow and Wednesday from 9am to 4:30pm. You can also drop off food Monday – Friday at CityLink from 9am to 3pm.

  • Impact 2020: We are postponing the conference.

  • WOL Classes: On hold with the exception of School of Ministry.
  • Online Services: We are anticipating online services for the next eight weeks. Pastor Dan will be putting out devotional videos every morning, along with informational updates as they become available. You can stay updated by visiting our webpage, downloading our mobile app, and following us on social media.

Thank you again, Water of Life, for being so amazing. We are praying continuously.

Hey Water of Life Family,

I’m just finishing studying for this weekend’s new series on Contentment. It is all about the safety God provides when we find our way in Him. Tonight and tomorrow we are going to talk about Psalm 23. You know the verse even if you don’t know the address, “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.” I am not sure there could be a more appropriate verse for the situation we find ourselves in today. Uncertainty is rampant, crisis and a bit of panic seem to abound. Remember Jesus said “In this world you will have tribulation but fear not I have overcome the world.” I was just texting a friend in Manila and he was saying they were going into quarantine there today. It really is a time that “In this world” we have tribulation.

But Jesus is forever stable! He is a rock in times like these. Many of you are not experiencing that joy right now though because Jesus isn’t being allowed to shepherd your journey, worry and anxiety are. We are going to talk about that this weekend so I hope you will gather with family and friends and join us. Worship begins tonight at 5pm and tomorrow morning at 9:30am and 11:30am. Our services will be available to stream all day so make some time to be still and sit before the Lord. A Sabbath is a really good thing when you are full of fear and concern. Let the Lord Jesus move in on your feelings and build your faith so you can confidently say, “I shall not want.”

Bless you! Pastor Dan

March 13, 2020

Each week for the last 30 years I have lived in a rhythm, a pattern of preparation. I study, I pray, I rest, and I prepare my heart to gather with others who love Jesus. I have done this for so long I know the process well. Some weeks are more difficult than others, some more rich than others but all of them are filled with seeing and meeting and praying and talking with people. We are going online this weekend and believe me I am grateful for online viewing. I am so glad we can still gather digitally and worship even if I can’t see you! But I will miss gathering to worship as it always gives me life to be with others loving Jesus.

Today’s latest update for the WOL family is that we will not be holding services at Rosena Ranch this week as the school has been closed to us until April 15.

The ground is shifting fast these days. Like many of you, this week for me has been interrupted by life and reality. My rhythm is gone, my expectation of meeting with people and gathering with them to worship is lost. The things that I am used to are not as they were. This is life though, isn’t it? Jesus said in John 14:1, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” Do not lose your way when you lose your rhythm, your balance, when you lose those things that are familiar to you and help you in the journey.

Turn your heart to an ever-deeper place with Jesus. He is our Rock and our strong foundation. He is our Shepherd and our ever-present help in times of need. Crisis and change create fear. Jesus and His Spirit create safety. This weekend as we begin a new series on Contentment, we are going to be talking about how to live in the moment, whatever the moment looks like. When David said, “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want” he was making an amazing declaration. The Lord will Shepherd me, He will guide me, keep me, tend me, protect me, revive me and nourish me. The Hebrew word for shepherd is actually translated as friendship in some places. What better thing is there in times of change and crisis than a King who is a friend?

Let’s take the change and the crisis before us and make today a great day, a deeper day with Jesus and a day we let our lights shine a little brighter to a world full of fear and uncertainty. Let’s gather this weekend in small groups, and with family and friends, and worship together believing that God can do something great in all of this uncertainty.

We will be live online at 5pm Saturday night and Sunday mornings at 9:30am and 11:30am, and there will be recordings available all day Sunday on our website so anytime you can gather and worship, jump in and do that.

God Bless! Pastor Dan

Water of Life Family,

Last weekend I had a bit of fun with you talking about the Coronavirus (If you weren’t in services it was about the run on water and toilet paper at Costco). Please know that all of us are taking this season seriously. We go above and beyond to ensure the safety of everyone who comes onto our Water of Life campuses. We are asking all the questions and listening intently to many answers.

With the heightened awareness and public concerns regarding the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) we are taking further steps to insure all our facilities are safe. We want you to know we are very intentional about providing clean, sanitary, and safe environments for people to meet and worship and serve. In addition, our facilities staff continually cleans throughout and between each service. The children’s classrooms and toys are disinfected after each service by the Empowered Kids staff and volunteers at each campus.

While we realize no public environment is 100% safe, we take every precaution and safety measure possible and are diligent in our procedures with our custodial staff in regard to proper cleaning standards and sanitation.

We encourage you to wash your hands frequently and to refrain from simple actions such as shaking hands. Also, if you or your children are ill, please stay home and watch our services online at wateroflifecc.org.

In saying that, I think it is also crucial to say, don’t panic but do pray. Fear kills faith and in times of high anxiety and stress faith is a healer. Pray for hard hit areas like China, Iran and Italy. Pray for families impacted by the virus and those who are ill, and pray that our faith would be attractive to those struggling with worry and anxiety during this time. As it has been said to me from safety experts in the private sector, “There have been some decisions made that are feeding the panic without really addressing any risks. I am increasingly concerned that the panic is more dangerous than the virus itself.”

Christians remember, take a deep breath and pray. It is going to be ok. Don’t allow this to get you so wound up that you lose sight of your God who is amazing and never out of control.

Remember to be thankful at all times. God is never caught off guard even though we often are. At the time of this writing there are no cases of the virus in San Bernardino County so we have much to be grateful for.

Remember to Prioritize your personal health. Continue to follow health guidelines outlined by the CDC, including frequent hand-washing, and proper coughing and sneezing etiquette.

Worship online if you’re sick. Our Online Campus is a great way to worship with us when you’re sick. If you are unable to join us on campus due to illness, you can join us online during our regular service times.

Contact us if we can help. We are here for you so please contact us for prayer or care when you need help.

Bless you,
Pastor Dan
